Junior Spring Meeting 2025 report

Date published: 17 April 2025

The Junior Spring Meeting took place on a bright and breezy day at The Darenth, where 54 young players contended in the medal with a further four playing stableford. Conditions were extremely difficult, and good scoring was hard to come by, but all of our determined youngsters deserve praise for completing their 18 holes in good time.

Best scratch score of the day was by Mia Bolton (Rochester & Cobham), who did the double by winning the nett trophy, too. Runner-up in the scratch event was Chart Hills’ Emma Kwan, with Sebastian Bullock (Wildernesse) coming in third.

First nett prize went to Selina Bartarya (Chelsfield Lakes) with Caleb Twyman (Prince’s) taking second spot. Rounding out the medal prize winners was Upchurch River Valley’s Daisy Beckett.

In the Stableford competition, for handicaps of 25 and above, the trophy went to Lewis Dean (Wrotham Heath) with brother and sister, Felix and Mia Frith (Hever Castle) finishing second and third respectively.

This year, the Junior Spring Meeting was chosen to be the qualifying event for the England Golf Junior Champion Club competition, and we are delighted to announce that the team from Upchurch River Valley have qualified to be our representatives. Many congratulations to them, and we know they will do Kent proud when they travel to Spalding Golf Club in Lincolnshire in August.

Our thanks go to Jason and his team at The Darenth, who looked after us with their usual excellent hospitality, and also to our brilliant referees and volunteers – Peter, Ian, Jon, Cheryl, Tim, Yvonne, Anna and Marilyn – who gave up their time on a long and sometimes chilly day.
