Kent Futures (East) report

Upchurch River Valley played host to our first Futures event of the season where 18 youngsters assembled for 18 holes of stableford over the South course on a dry and fresh spring day.
In Division A, for handicaps 13 to 24, first place went to Canterbury’s Louis Garvey with 33 points, on countback from Sidney Scerri (Chelsfield Lakes). Taking third spot was Alice Chou (Rochester & Cobham).
In Division B, for handicaps 25 and upwards, we had a runaway winner in Elliott Thomas (Royal Cinque Ports) with a fantastic 55 points – that handicap will soon come down! Runner-up was Faversham’s Joey Holman on 42, with Sam Taylor (Ashford) just sneaking third place with 33 points, on countback from Tommy Stother (Chelsfield Lakes).
Our thanks go to Kent Golf volunteers Marilyn, Kim, Anna and Christine, for giving up their time to help our young players round the course, also to Upchurch for their excellent hospitality and supporting our junior programme.
