Autumn Meeting 2024 report

Date published: 24 Oct 2024

The weather Gods were well and truly on our side for the 2024 Autumn Meeting at Littlestone, blessed as we were with a stunning late-October day. Club Secretary, David Mills, was on hand to welcome the players, all of whom enjoyed a generous buffet breakfast before beginning their fourball betterball stableford.

With barely a breath of wind disturbing the sun-bathed links, it looked set to be a day of pure golfing pleasure, with the prospect of some decent scoring, too. And we were not disappointed, as Jamie Newman (Chestfield) and Luke Herlihy (Stonelees) in only the third group out, came in with 43 points, which would prove good enough to win them the day. Runners-up on 41 were the West Malling regulars, Steve Butler and Norman Kane, with Murray Pennells and Kevin Tribley (Wrotham Heath) taking third spot with 39 points, on countback from Malcolm Gofton and Andy Yates (West Malling).

Steve Butler added to his haul by winning the longest drive on the 7th, with Erin Rose (Kings Hill) winning the women's equivalent.

The sharp shooters who claimed the nearest the pin spoils were Heather Bennett (Wrotham Heath) on the 14th and Joe Harris (West Malling) on the 17th.

We thank Littlestone for their excellent hospitality and look forward to returning in the not-too-distant future.
