Our Junior Development Officer Tim Ewer attended the very interesting 2024 Active Kent & Medway Conference this week, held at The Detling Showground. The conference drew representatives from across health, leisure, local council, voluntary, sport, and activity sectors who share a vision to get more young people more active more often. Continuing the support of the county's strategy for sport and physical activity Move Together, which was launched in 2023, the theme of this year's conference was: 'promote equality, value diversity, support inclusion'.
The keynote speaker was Donna Fraser OBE, a 4x Olympian and former 400m sprinter for Great Britain. She has become a leader in equality, diversity, and inclusion with over 10 years of corporate experience within business, sport, leadership, well-being, and positive mental attitude (PMA) for both start-ups and established companies. Donna was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2021 for services to equality, inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
It was a great day for networking and we have made some good potential tie-ups with organisations such as Mencap, Sense (Everyone Active), and GOGA (Get Out Get Active) for our Centenary year in 2025.
