The Guildford Trophy Final was played on Saturday 28 September and hosted by Walmer & Kingsdown GC.
Thanks to Andrew Jones for his close attention on the day and the fact that all members who played that day knew exactly what was happening.
Conditions could not have been better with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze with unbelievable views across to France.
The match itself was played in great spirit, and a competitive contest was had right down to the very last singles match on the 18th green.
Canterbury held a slender lead after the morning foursomes of 1 point, 2½ to 1½, and as expected, came out strong in the afternoon singles, winning the opening 2 singles.
Sheerness then made a concerted effort to win the next 4 singles matches to close the gap and make for a tense finish, but Canterbury held on narrowly, winning the last 2 matches.
Canterbury won by 6½ to Sheerness 5½.
