Kent junior successes at the Faldo Futures Final

Date published: 29 Aug 2024

Many congratulations to Kent junior star golfers Selina Bartarya from Chelsfield Lakes on winning the Faldo Futures Final Girls 11-12 category by 5 shots (-3), and to Jeremy Li from Sundridge Park on finishing runner-up in the Boys 9-10 category with a score of -2

Selina won the original qualifying event with -3 at Nizels, the regional qualifying with even par at Sunningdale Heath, and now the National Futures Final where all the regional top 3 players were at The Belfry and finished -3. As a result of Selina winning this national event, she will now travel to the US and play in the IMG Junior World Golf Championships in July next year in San Diego.

Jeremy, aged only 9 with a playing handicap of 12.8 shot an amazing 2 under par with some great golf at the Faldo Futures Final. It has been an exciting month for Jeremy, who has also made his Kent debut playing for the U13 team in The Triple Shield match at Kingswood against Surrey and Sussex, winning both of his matches.

Many congratulations to both from all at the County Office.

Well done also to Truc Nguyen (Sundridge Park) who made it to the National Finals in the Girls 11-12 category and Ellie Taylor (Faversham) in the Girls 9-10 category, both finishing in the top 10. Noah Norman finished 12th (+4) in the Boys 9-10 category.

The future of golf in Kent is looking bright!
