Joan Piper Adult & Junior Mixed Greensomes report

Date published: 23 Aug 2024

Bearsted were our hosts for the 2024 Joan Piper Greensomes, played for the first time as an adult/junior competition. The course was presented in fine condition, and the firm and bouncy fairways, coupled with the strong wind, provided a stern test for our 26 players.

Coming out on top with 41 points was the team of Scarlett Newing (Canterbury) and Dean Heynes (Etchinghill) just ahead of father and daughter pairing, Colin and Ellie Taylor (Faversham). Completing the top three were the father and son duo of Steven and Harry Klosek (Prince’s and Faversham respectively).

We thank Keith and his team at Bearsted Golf Club for their hospitality and all the players for supporting the new format of this competition.

An enjoyable day was had by all and it was lovely to see such a variety of pairings; parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, brother and sister, family friends, and we even had a couple of pairings who hadn’t met each other before yesterday, so some new friendships were made and some old friendships were strengthened. What a lovely game we play!
