Kent Futures (South) report

Date published: 16 Aug 2024

The Links at Littlestone Warren looked beautifully inviting from inside the Nineteenth Hole but then you walked outside and threatened to fly away like Mary Poppins. Calling it windy doesn’t do it justice! Fifteen intrepid youngsters took to the course for our fourth event in this year’s Futures Tour and due to the conditions the competition was cut to 14 holes.

In division one, for handicaps of 12.5 to 20, the best score of the day was 23 points by Baden Brown (Bearsted), just ahead of the West Malling pair of Imogen Kennard on 22 and Noah Norman on 21. (And well done Imogen for getting an eagle!)

For the handicaps of 21 and higher, the winner was Max Fincham (Kings Hill) with an excellent 30 points, with Zach Ward (West Malling) coming second on 26. Completing our list of prize-winners was Sundridge Park’s Josh Searle.

All players deserve credit for toughing it out – a character-building experience, to be sure!

We thank Littlestone for hosting us and Stressen and her team in the Nineteenth Hole for looking after our budding golfers so well.

We hope we can return again soon – hopefully on a slightly calmer day.
