U25 Championship report

Date published: 14 Aug 2024

Knole Park once again played host to the Kent U25s Championship (previously known as the Youths), and our 38 players enjoyed 36 holes around the undulating layout presented, as always, in beautiful condition.

Best score of the morning on the exacting par 70 course was a four-under-par 66 from Abe Bignell (Rochester & Cobham Park). Close behind on 68 were Faversham’s Xavier Hollands and Abe’s clubmate, Lucas Dennison, with Lennon Hill (Sundridge Park) lurking just one shot further back.

In the afternoon, Taran Randall (The London Club) came out of the pack with a 67 to give himself a combined total of 139, which was good enough for third place. Lennon Hill showed great consistency by posting another 69 and took the runner-up spot on 138, but nobody could catch Abe who holed a nice birdie putt on the home green for a 67 and a five-shot victory.

Abe also won the Handicap Cup, with Lennon again coming second, and North Foreland’s Theo Rowe completed our list of prize-winners by taking third place.

Our thanks go to Knole Park Golf Club for their continuing support of this long-standing Championship and also to our referees and volunteers – Ian, Jon, Allan, Christine, Sue, and President Chris – for putting in a double shift on such a long day. We look forward to returning next year.
