Rules & Etiquette Evening for Newbie Women Golfers report

Date published: 1 Aug 2024

On a hot, steamy evening, 27 women rocked up at The Darenth for an evening of rules and etiquette. At the beginning of their golfing journey, the women enjoyed a couple of hours out on the course whilst Anna and Sarah demonstrated the do’s and don'ts of golfing etiquette. We even threw in a few teaching opportunities for the rules of golf supervised by Jane Marr, one of our county referees.

On the 1st hole, Anna did so many things wrong; turning up to the tee late, opening a bag of crisps whilst Sarah was playing her shot, and not raking the bunker. Terrible behaviour. On the 2nd hole, behaviour was much better, and we were able to demonstrate “Unplayable” options, “Provisional Ball”, and many others.

Having come back into the cool air conditioned room, teams set to listing all the things Anna did wrong on the 1st hole, whilst supping some Prosecco. The team with the most observations won a Pro V1X ball – they will be using their full 3 minutes to find that ball!

A great evening, and thanks to The Darenth for hosting.

We will hold a Fun Golf Event for Women learning golf at Stonelees GC on Sunday 20 October, follow this link for more details.
