Kent U18 boys win the England Golf South Eastern Group Boys’ Qualifying

Rookery Park GC in Lowestoft was this year's venue for the U18 boys' flagship regional event of the year, the EG South Eastern Group Boys' Qualifying. Kent took a team of 6 lads, led by captain Abe Bignell. After a long journey and just one practice round on a well presented but unfamiliar course, our team tactic was to stay steady.
In the morning, that is exactly what each member of the team did, giving us an overall lead of 6 shots going into the afternoon round. Inevitably, in the afternoon, Essex and Surrey fought back with some great individual and team scoring, but Kent kept working hard, and the final result was a draw with a strong Essex side. As in previous years, countback meant that our discarded 6th man score was needed, and as every one of our lads had tried their best until the end, this gave us a comfortable countback victory!
We wish 4 of our team players every success with their scholarships in the USA. Kent look forward to taking a young and talented team to Teignmouth GC in Devon for the England County Finals on 27-29 August.
