Aylesford VIAT Primary School and East Kent Mencap taster sessions report

Our Junior Development Officer Tim Ewer has been busy running golf taster sessions for young people.
An all-day visit to Aylesford VIAT Primary School, where over 200 children experienced golf, many for the very first time. Tim set up a six-hole golf course on the school playing field, which worked perfectly on a lovely sunny day. A few of the children really got the golf bug and have enquired about joining the Kent Approved Academy at Tudor Park GC.
Tim, plus two Kent volunteers, attended a multi-sport activity day held at Faversham Community Centre last week, which had been organised by East Kent Mencap. Over 100 young adults with learning disabilities attended the fun day, which included football, cricket, boccia, a ukulele band, and of course, golf, which proved very popular. Kent Golf & East Kent Mencap are currently looking to arrange other similar sessions, and we have invited them to attend our Family Day at Stonelees in September.
