The predicted thunderstorms mercifully didn’t materialise, and our 39 club champions enjoyed a sunny but slightly blustery day at a beautifully presented Mid Kent Golf Club.
With tricky greens and thick rough to contend with, low scoring was hard to come by on the par 72 layout, and a 75 from defending champion, Anne Wheble (Dartford), would prove to be the best of the day. One shot behind was Ellena Slater (Kings Hill), with home representative, Loo Brackpool taking third spot with a 77.
Nett honours went to Julia Martin-Harper (The Ridge) with a fine 68, just one ahead of Carolyn Swan (Hever Castle), with Dawn Prosser (Boughton) taking third prize with a 70.
Our thanks go to referees Peter and Cheryl, and to Marilyn and Simon for running the day so efficiently.
Finally, a big thank you to Mid Kent for hosting this prestigious competition with their usual friendly hospitality; always a pleasure to visit.
