Watson Trophy (for 2023 Kent Club Champions, played on Sunday 12 May) report by Dartford Golf Club:
The Watson Trophy field had a beautiful day to play this year's event. Thanks go to Rob Fowler for acting as starter this morning.
It was a close run affair, and after 9 holes, Michael Wilson of Chestfield and Sam Pantlin of Pedham Place were the only players to break par, with 33s.
Tony Coulstock of Shortlands, a veteran of the event and past winner, came back in 2 under to post a level par 69 and lay down a target.
Michael fell away on the back nine, but Danny Smith of Sundridge Park matched Tony's score of 69.
Kenny Haines put up a valiant effort for DGC but came up just short, with a 71, and it was Sam Pantlin, who held his nerve to come in with a 1 under par 68.
Congratulations to Sam on a fine victory, with Danny taking second on countback from Tony.
Ben Penfold, who was second out, won the Nett prize, with a 76 -5 71.
